November 2008
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Hi Everyone:
November will be a ground breaking month for us as ECB
members as well as for Americans. As Americans we will elect
a new President. And as members of the American Culinary Federation
we will be hosting the first of many forums to decide who will
be the next President of the American Culinary Federation.
This forum is sponsored by the Rhode Island Chapter of the ACF
and they have invited us (ECB) and the ACF Cape Cod
& the Islands Chapter as well. Chef Joe Aiello, CEC, AAC
the present ACF National Treasurer who is running for ACF President
will be attending; and Linda Munch, President of the Rhode Island
Chapter and our own Chairman of the board Americo DiFronzo; have
invited all the other candidates for this office as well. These
candidates are at this moment trying to rearrange their schedules
to join us. Please join us for an exciting forum and Henry Wainers
well known hospitality.
NOVEMBER 3RD AT SID WAINER & SONS in New Bedford, Ma.
Then on
NOVEMBER 10TH JOIN US AT THE 114TH
EPICUREAN CLUB OF BOSTONS PRESIDENTS BALL
Where we will honor Henry Wainer, Purveyor of the Year
Billy William Costa, Service to the Industry Award
Present the ECB Chef of the Year Award
Plus two other surprise Presidential Awards
We, your board realize money is tight so the ball is priced
lower then it has been in years; and black tie can be substituted
for a dark business suit.
On Page Two I have requested your email addresses, so far
I have received about 15%, I need them all, if you do not have
email please call me at 781-231-0074 and we will make special
arrangements. Your ECB portion of dues have not gone
up in 20 years, it is the National ACF dues that keep rising;
because of all of the benefits you get as a ACF member. Such
as: life insurance, the culinary review, administration, educational
programs, certification, job bank, apprenticeship, website, etc.
Your ECB dues are kept low because your board is
all volunteer and you the members are always giving back, by
hosting meetings, providing educational programs and the like.
But, in order for your ECB portion of the dues package
to stay stable we must do an electronic newsletter and the added
incentive is that we will go Green in the process!
Also, on Page Two we have asked for Volunteer Ambassadors to
help with the ACF National Conference to be held here in Boston
in February of 2009, please sign up soon!
Last night (Oct. 20th) members of ECB where
treated to a unique dinner in Canton, Ma.,
at Korean King B-B-Q, we feasted on a sushi buffet, then a grand
buffet of Korean Side dishes. We then sat around tables of six
that had grills set in them and the service personnel cooked
marinated prime rib for us; then instructed us on how to roll
the meat with bean curd in lettuce leaves
WHAT FUN and it
sure beat Tacos!
PLEASE SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AS MENTIONED IT IS TIME
FOR ECB TO GO GREEN! graffeo0074@comcast.net
Fraternally yours,
Denise S. Graffeo, CEC, AAC
