March 2007
Hi Members, associates and friends of ECB;
FEBRUARY
We had a very Educational and Informative Feb. 26th meeting at
Mass. General Hospital. The event provided us with an open bar,
dinner, and a very informative educational program on trans
fats; just read the paper any paper any day thats
the hot new food topic. The folks over at MGH did a great job
in presenting us with the facts on trans fats. I
also wish to thank David Gauvin, Al McPhee, and Executive Chef
Dan of MGH for a fine experience as well as official MGH speakers
and Mr. Peter Christie, CAE the President & Chief Ex. Officer
of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. The care in which
the program was offered showed attention to detail and several
points of view on the subject. GREAT JOB AND THANKS TO THOSE
WHO ATTENDED AND THOSE WHO WORKED HARD TO PUT THE EVENT TOGETHER!
MARCH
I attended the N.E. Regional Conference in Pittsburgh, Tony Graffeo,
Rico Di Fronzo and Fred Noregard also attended the regional.
Our ACF/ECB chapter received a recognition award for all our
efforts toward you the member and the ACF. Many changes are coming
our way so pay close attention to the culinary review you received
this week the ACF President in his message to us outlined the
changes that is why I am not repeating them here. Our RICO
was presented an ACF PRESIDENTS medallion by John Minnitti,
CCE, AAC chair. Our club also presented all the N.E. Chapters
Junior Hot Food Teams (there our nine of them) with 200.00 each
which our associate members helped us raise at our January 29th
fundraiser. For a chapter with fewer than 200 members I think
we made quite an impression on our fellow New England Chefs.
All the other numerous awards for the North East chapters I have
listed on page three.
Our March meeting will be a four course wine dinner pairing and
our host will be Chef Gregg Dwyer of Oakley Country Club be sure
to make your reservation early. At this dinner those MEMBERS
in attendance will get an opportunity to take advantage of Peter
Christies offer to us made at MGH.
The offer is a free VIP ticket to the April 1-3 Boston Food Service
Show.
You will need to see me at the meeting and I will explain how
to take advantage of his generous offer to you our MEMBER. There
are a limited number of free tickets so see me when you arrive
and I will give you the magic code for as long as it lasts. Also,
Gregg is working on Educational Points for this meeting.
